Coinquest.com Using Copied Images

Copyright Theft

Perhaps we should be flattered by the number of people including dealers who continually infringe our IP (Intellectual Property) rights by using our copyright images, but we do not find it amusing, and will take legal action against any copyright thieves.

CoinQuest.com

CoinQuest.com is just one of the many coin dealers, bloggers & websites worldwide who commit copyright theft by using our copyright images without our permission. On their website, a page of which we reproduce here, they are clearly using our William IV Gold Sovereign Obverse and Reverse photographs – the same images that Westminster have used here.

Sample Listing

I have a 1831 William IV Gold Sovereign. The diameter is 22mm and i have been advised it is a genuine gold sovereign. The coin is stamped with W.W. (William Wyon) at the bottom of the truncation. Reading what i can i believe that the coin i have is ‘extremely rare’ according to the Spinks guide 2001 as the W.W. has no full stops and just appears as W W (no full stops). I have tried to get valuations but everyone just seems to want to make offers. A rough guide to the value would be very helpful.

What’s Wrong?

It is dishonest and unethical to pirate and steal other people’s work by using high quality copyright photographs without the owner’s consent. We can partially understand why they do it; it is quick and easy (but then so is robbing people).
