eBay User llantrisantcoins and Copied Images

llantrisantcoins of Pontyclun, Rhondda Cynon Taff, United Kingdom, stole our 2002 Queen Elizabeth II Gold Sovereign photograph to use on eBay, without our permission, to try to sell his own. Totally dishonest. Image theft is endemic on eBay, and most sellers appear not to care whether their buyers are deceived.

eBay Copyright Thieves
Many eBay vendors use our coin photographs to sell inferior quality coins on eBay. These eBay members are dishonest and should be avoided.
We believe eBay profits from IP rights infringements (copyright theft), and does so knowingly, only removing infringing items reluctantly, if at all.

What’s Wrong?

We invest a great deal of time, effort, and cost into creating some of the best photographic coin and gold bar images on the internet. We strongly object when lazy and dishonest people decide to use them without a by your leave or thanks, doing so in competition with us. It is always possible, even likely, that sellers who steal photographs do not own a similar item, and have the intention to totally defraud potential buyers.

Copyright theft is dishonest. In this instance the seller has used many images. We recommend you avoid doing business with dishonest dealers. The vendor is not only cheating us by stealing our copyright images, he is fraudulently or ignorantly misleading and deceiving all potential buyers. Gaining pecuniary advantage by deception is the definition of fraud.

2002 Queen Elizabeth II

Gold Sovereign

By The Royal Mint

*Listing is for illustration purposes only  –  coin does come presentation in a beautiful case, complete with capsule and certification of authenticity*

Description:

2002 sovereigns have a shield design to celebrate The Queen’s Golden Jubilee year. This was only the second time in over a century that a design other than the familiar St. George and Dragon reverse has been used on British gold sovereigns. The last occasion was in 1989 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the very first gold sovereign.

Shield Reverse
The shield reverse was last used for Queen Victoria from 1838 to 1887 inclusive. This was Victoria’s Golden Jubilee year, and the design of the sovereigns was changed in that year. In fact for the date 1887, three different sovereign designs were issued. It is perhaps fitting, then, that The Royal Mint has chosen not only to change the gold sovereign design for our own Queen’s Golden Jubilee, but also to revert back to the shield design.
